Dan Greene & the Fever Dream

2/21/09 Annnnnd We're Back!!! Some of you may have been wondering "what ever happened to www.dangreenefeverdream.com?!?".... well, we experienced a few months offline due to technical issues, but everything has been resolved. In the meantime, we've hardly been idle. While we still continue our search for a new Bassist & Drummer (we're looking for the RIGHT people as opposed to the RIGHT NOW people), Chris and I have been rehearsing like mad. Our first show as an acoustic duo will bring us to a great venue in Dobson, NC that Aisle 21 played a few years ago called The Coffee Bean Jazz and Blues Cafe. The set for that show will debut over a dozen songs (mixture of covers and originals- you know this band is really all about originals, right?!?).... in short, we are excited about what the future holds and appreciate your continued support more than you know!

11/8/08 The Fall has brought a number of changes to DGFD. First off, we are sad to report that Todd and Tim are leaving the band but we thank them for their contributions over the last several years. We've had some great times! Chris and I will indeed press on and we already have some leads on replacements; in the meantime we are working up some material to perform as an acoustic duo. So far as some new original music, it's a little beyond the initial expected deadline (aren't most things?!?), but the CD is mixed and mastered. The only thing left to do is finalize the artwork and get it duplicated and you will have 5 new noize nuggets to munch on soon. That being said, some exciting new riffs are finding their way out of the haze for the next full length release. More updates to come soon, but here's to everyone having a great Thanksgiving- cheers!

5/26/08 Happy Memorial Day! Our recording sessions were hard work, but fun and ultimately very successful! All 5 tracks are laid down, no we just have to finalize the EP name & artwork, get it mixed, mastered and duplicated. Easy, right?!? Should be in hand soon- thanks for your support!

4/13/08 We are writing and rehearsing for our upcoming recording sessions on 05/24 & 05/25. We plan on borrowing a page from bands like The Black Crowes this time in terms of getting in and out quickly and not being too precious with things. The aim is towards a low frills yet potent collection of songs, and we're all getting excited as the time draws near! We'll keep you posted, but we hope to have something in your hands by mid-summer at the latest...

2/18/08 Another very productive practice session this weekend saw us continuing to grow closer together as friends and as a band. Sometimes this music thing isn't a total pain in the ass! Seriously though, we are beginning to map out plans for a new recording. Not a full length album like "Magnitude," but a short 5 song EP that we hope to get in your hands around the end of Spring/ beginning of the Summer. At this point we think that this will consist of 4 originals and one cover. The originals we're considering include what would be the first studio recordings of the live favorite "Jailbird Song" and a song from the Aisle 21 project days that I'm looking forward to laying down for posterity; it's very special to me- a song called "Midnight Run." So far as the cover, we're keeping it a surprise for the time being. Under the (chin) rug, so to speak. Hmm...... is that a hint?!?

1/19/08 We hope that the New Year is treating everyone well. We have been working hard to get some new material together; both cover tunes and original tunes are currently percolating. Some of the upcoming menu items are dishes by The Doobie Brothers, Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins. We've also got a new jazzy original that we plan to debut at our next show in March. Also look for some new audio files and a visual change to both the main site and our myspace in a few weeks. Well, that's what we're up to- if you feel like dropping a line and filling us in on your goin's on, we'd love to hear from you. Wishing you many blessings.....

9/30/07 We've just had the busiest month of our tenure together with 4 full band gigs and 6 DG performances and we are psyched!! THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the shows this month- we appreciate you!! We're going to dig in for a little while and add some more songs from the "Magnitude" record to our live repertoire as well as add a few new covers by classic underground bands like Social Distortion, so stick with us...... we wish you all a happy and cooler Fall.

8/18/07 After a terrific gig at The Rhino earlier this month the band is taking a much deserved weekend off while Tim indulges his love of racing up in Virginia. Several cool shows are on the horizon, and we're talking about doing some more writing as well as cool future covers to add. New music continues to pour out from some of our favorite artists that delights and inspires. In other words, life is good- Cheers!

7/22/07 The Hospice Benefit last weekend turned out great- we were proud to be a part of it! Always a blessing when you feel like your music is being put to good use. Thanks to all involved in putting the event together, and we hope to participate again next year.

7/5/07 Happy slightly belated birthday, America! Also, hello and thanks to all of you who came out and made such an awesome show of support for our June 30th 29 song blow out at The Box Seat! Not only was it great to perform for so many old friends, but I feel like we connected with a lot of new faces that we hope to see again soon! I also want to thank our most talented buds in Defiant who came up after the 2nd set for a killer rendition of the Tool classic "46 & 2" - there was surely no rest for the wicked on that night (right, Todd?!?). In closing for now I do want to say that we continue to write songs for the next record and should have some studio time booked some time in the Fall. Please keep checking right here for progress reports on that front, and until we meet again I hope that you will all enjoy life and be excellent to each other.....

4/24/07 After a really challenging set of days, the band has entered this week with a renewed sense of possibility. We are working hard to refine old tunes, bring some new ideas to fruition, and keep things fun and feeling good. In short, playing rock 'n' roll just isn't such a bad way to spend time. I'm reminded by that every time I see an old warhorse like Ozzy come out with his most inspired material in over a decade- if he ain't too old to rock, neither are we! Come help us prove that theory correct this Saturday when we help our bass slappin' buddy Tim celebrate his 21st birthday for the 29th time....

4/18/07 - Every once in a while something happens that is impossible to ignore. The horrible events that took place at Virginia Tech earlier this week are just beyond logical comprehension, but I have to say that my heart truly aches for those that have lost loved ones. Please be good to yourselves, lean on each other for support and cherish every moment because there really are no guarantees in this world.

3/7/07 If the band name changes it will be due to my discovery of a formula found on the good ol' world wide web in which you take the name of your first car and combine it with your high school mascot to produce a "cool indie band name." Now I ask the question: is the world ready for "Dan Greene & The Impulse Pirates?" Hmmm...... things that make ya say "ARRRRRRRRRR!!!!"

2/18/07 Just finished up a very productive and enjoyable rehearsal with the fellas- things are gelling nicely and everyone is having a good time, which is what playing in a band is all about (especially here in North Cackalackee)! We have three songs we're bringing back from a long absence at the next show and then one more song that we have never played before. In other words, if you came to the most recent performance don't be afraid to stop in for a listen at The Clubhouse show as it won't be the same ol' same ol'.

2/15/07 I would like to send out a sincere expression of gratitude to everyone who came out to the show this past Saturday. Not only were you one of the best audiences that DGFD has played for, but you were one of the best audiences I've played for since joining my first band in 1991- THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

11/17/06 We are thrilled to announce that Todd Ayers has decided to fully return to the band on drums!! Todd has been making music with Dan since 1996 and the start of Elixir Fix. Anyone that has ever seen that band, Todd's killer metal band Defiant or heard the "Magnitude...." CD knows that Todd is not only a great drummer, but a true musician. The past few rehearsals have really been something special, and we look forward to sharing that with you all live in just a few weeks! Please visit the "shows" area and mark your calendars; and if we haven't said so recently....please know that we appreciate your interest and support.

11/6/06 Lots of things going on..... Have I gone and joined a hardcore punk band as their bassist? It's beginning to look that way, and I'm psyched! Yes, it is indeed a curveball- but it does not mean the end of DGFD or Aisle 21. Quite the contrary- I firmly believe that my involvement in the three different projects (thanks to the understanding and wisdom of the Empire Falls guys) will only help each one grow. Although 2006 saw a number of really cool shows, I plan to get in front of people a lot more in 2007. It's all about doing what I love- making music with people I respect for people that have their ears open. Oh, BS..... it's about having more "legitimate" excuses to drink beer! Seriously, on the DGFD front, my once and future drummer Todd Ayers of Defiant has already attended a rehearsal to get warmed up for some dates with us- thanks for helping out, broseph! Also want to be sure that you all come out to see Holly and I play as we continue to polish Aisle 21 at The Clubhouse in a little more than a week- bring some friends for a great time and the debut of the "deadly medley!"

11/2/06 After a year of doing a killer job on the skins, our brother Shon Minish is stepping down from the kit for the time being to focus on his growing family. Shon has been a great part of this band and played some very memorable shows with us, not to mention being a key co-writer on what some people say is our best song yet ("Jailbird Song"). Several of his signature parts will remain integral elements of the songs I've brought to the band over the last twelve months, and he will be doing some playing on the next CD. The band will soldier on with fill in help from some talented friends until the drum chair is permanently re-established.

7/25/06 The British are coming!! The British are coming!! Ooops..... I meant to say "The album is here!! The album is here!!" Lame wordplay aside, I am VERY pleased (and more than a bit relieved) to have "The Magnitude of Memory Loss" in hand to offer you. Some people already have a copy (much love to those at the first Aisle 21 Blind Tiger sighting). I'm figuring out a more permanent internet distribution method at the moment, but for the time being you can get a copy by 1) emailing me ready to send $8.00 to my PayPal account- include S&H; or 2) at a show for the low low price of five smackers. $5 for 12 songs!! Whatabargain......

7/20/06 Been staying busy writing, recording and gigging around town, as well as prepping for the upcoming DGFD show at S.W.E.T. and a mini set with Holly at Blind Tiger this coming Monday. I've added a lot of links to cool bands that are thrilling my ears of late, from homegrown (wink wink) to international acts. I should say that the 08 11 gig will see the debut of the latest DGFD original, which is the first truly collaborative effort from this lineup to see the stage. It's a song called "Jailbird Song," and it would probably have AC/DC drag us off to court, but screw 'em- they can afford it and we want the exposure. Seriously, it's cool, Beavis....... Dear Lord, I'm really getting old. Anysqueeze, speaking of collaborations- Aisle 21 has completed its first original song- "What I Need From You." In a reversal of roles I came up with the chorus' vocal melody and the riff was based off of something Holly sang to me to play, making her the Tony Iommi thus far of the project! Coming back to DGFD music, the Somewhere Else show will also be the first time one my session favorites is played live- "Wake Me (When It's Showtime)."

6/29/06 I just returned from Earthtones Recording where producer par excellence Benjy Johnson handed me the reference CD for what will become "The Magnitude Of Memory Loss" post mastering (which was done by The SoundLab at Disc Makers). I'm gonna give it a few more spins to be sure that the cake can come out of the oven, but it's looking like the first official release I've been a part of since the 2000 Elixir Fix record is very close to a done deal. Stay tuned.

6/17/06 First off A HUGE HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my favorite musician ever- Michael Edward Greene- I love you, Pop! So many great things to share with you all. One thing I want to share is the incredible news that one of the very best bands in this area ever- I mean EVER- Motorfinger- is returning to the Piedmont Triad music scene. Check the links and show them your love. I plan to be in the audience at as many of their shows as I can scrape up gas money towards!! Secondly, I am jubilant in telling you that the CD is being mastered at DiscMakers as we speak. Once I've approved the proof it will be available- watch for a CD release show this summer. Finally, please check out the new tune added and the Song List as I've been writing like a man posessed- seeing both the fruition of some new solo material and some collaborative efforts between all four of us. Be well, and enjoy your June!

6/11/06 Creativity is in the air here in the Summertime Triad! Maybe it's all the killer shows, I've been seeing by my friends in Lube, Benj-o-matic and Defiant, but the riffs and silly lyrics are coming fast and furious. 4 new tunes are in the cooker, and I'm especially excited by the 2 of these that represent the first four man collaborative efforts of this lineup! At least one of these tunes will debut 7/4/06- see the "Shows" section for details, and enjoy your summer!

5/27/06 After a very fun and successful show at Ham's this week we are taking a little time to dig in a little more to come up with about ten more tunes before we return to the stage. THANK YOU to everyone who came out! We had a blast... evidently from the numbers, you did too! PLEASE sign up on the mailing list, and don't hesitate to drop a line if you have a song suggestion or just want to say howdy.

5/14/06 Happy day to all of you muthas...... Ha ...... Seriously, think of the one who bore you today with much respect, grace and love. Love you, Mom.

3/21/06 Had a killer marathon rehearsal / jam with the fellas yesterday and things were sounding mean (in a good way). "Ride Around The Sun" continues to develop in terms of the scope and arrangement into something with twists and turns that still manages to focus on three chord rawkin'. Everyone is making some very interesting suggestions about songs to cover, too (both old and new). BTW, anyone reading this should feel free to send an email with suggested future covers- some of the best ideas come from those with a more objective perspective. On the album front, pics are back from a long shoot with Ms. Trina Olson and I am in the process of picking favorites for the front and back cover (no easy task for an indecisive procrastinator), but that means I'm one step closer the finish line with the record. Stay tuned, and be happy!

3/11/06 Sonya Maria Minish was born during an early morning this past week at a healthy 7 pounds 8 ounces; Dad, Mom, big bro Edgar and baby are doing fine. CONGRATS SHON & FAMILY!!

3/6/06 Our beloved brutha on the skins, Shon "The Minishter of Finishter" is about to welcome a new baby into the world AAAAAAANY Day now! Please keep him, his lovely wife Maria and soon to be big brother Edgar in your thoughts.
